How to Release Blocked Trauma in Your Body

This month I attended a 3-day TRE® training program in San Diego as part of my certification to become a TRE® provider.  TRE® (Trauma Release Exercises) is a series of specific physical movements that help the body release trapped stress, tension, and trauma.

Scientists have recently discovered the stress from childhood trauma affects our physical health in terrifying ways when we grow up.  That’s why I began to investigate TRE®.  Not only is it beneficial for stress relief, but it also helps the body release blocked trauma from the past.  That makes it ideal for abuse survivors and people suffering from PTSD.

During this recent training, we practiced several short TRE® sessions.  On the second day, I became aware of lingering trauma from the past trapped in my body.  Remnants of an old fear began to surface.  I acknowledged it and moved through it, using my TRE® skills.

Your body has retained much of the stress from your abusive past.  That trauma is trapped and will eventually manifest as physical pain and/or disease.  Your body knows how to release blocked trauma and restore itself to a calm, natural state.  That’s exactly what I allowed my body to do.  I worked with my body to heal itself.

It’s wonderful to be able to empower my body in this way.  I can’t wait to help you do the same on your healing journey!

Hi Svava,

This is a very current topic for me. I read about the TRE work a few months ago. I have been slowly figuring out how to work through some specific triggers in therapy (talk, tapping and EMDR) yet since then I have had a lot of pain in my neck upper shoulders and jaws and losing flexibility - doing stretches and seen a chiropractor have a massage scheduled but not much is working so far.

thank you for the work you do
you are an inspiration

Dear Svava! this is music to my ears....! TRE is the absolutely best news for victims of sexual trauma! Will you become Iceland's first TRE practitioner, as I became Ireland's first myself four years ago? did I possibly put you on the scent of TRE? Wonderful news anyway. Just this morning I pass on a link of you to some Irish interest in the wake of our momentous decision last week to ban Corporal Punishment < il all settings > with no-more-defense of 'reasoanable chastisement' If you need help (in Iceland) I could perhaps trace a girl who came to me in Dublin, but resides near Reykjavik. I could also show you what I have within TRE, to help survivors of abuse, when we meet ;) I also have 2 pages on FB. For the first 3 years, it was TRE Ireland (this page is now frozen in space and time). Now it has become TREIreland2 (number 2).

Thank you Raymond - this is awesome. I am hoping to bring TRE to Iceland some day, but I am still working on the certification process but can´t help but start to share how wonderful it is and refer people to other providers. I will keep you in mind when I travel to Iceland to do TRE, it would be wonderful to partner up in some way. Thank you for sharing your page I will check it out.

Awesome indeed, just as YOU are. But we might meet sooner here in Ireland (if I have my way) if the people in the same circles would take my cue and advice to bring you over to help us - we need all the help we can in Ireland. I am totally on your side Svava and am ready to assist in any way you see fit. You will see in my pages how I've been doing Groups for a long time now, and all over the place.

JUST FOR INFO: I am adding my website here as it doesn't show in the body of my comment. It's: www.treireland.ie Hopefully it won't be held back as sometimes on stricly-non-commercial sites. I put it here TO HELP.

I AM DEALING WITH ALOT OF RECENT HORRIFIC SADISTIC SEXUAL violence. I get (even women) belittling, minimizing and denying -when they say if it happened in childhood, and its not extreme - why has it ruined your life? Well, mine is recent. very recent. the backlash against victims is incredible. PLUS< authorities are using psychiatric coercion - false labelling - to shut down true victims.

I believe you Alexandra, and I well believe these awful things are happening out there, and so sorry you experience negativity from women too. I'm here because I know Svava (not in person mind you) and I trust and believe she's doing great work bringing much needed help. I'm sure you're here for the same reasons, so I'll let her speak. I'm in Ireland if that's any use to you. TRE is the help (common sense and nature really) victims of abuse have not-enough heard about, but now you know too. It can be done by skype, or you can do some easy research yourself, and start there. Best wishes, there is hope and help. Raymond

I hear you - I was so excited to share with as many as I can when I learned about it. The beauty of it is when you have learned it, and feel comfortable using it, you can continue to use it on your own!
